Community Catalysts is supporting thousands of community micro-enterprises across the UK who help provide a light to the lives of people living alone. 30th July is ‘International Day of Friendship’, and what better way of celebrating this special day than by giving time to call in on people in your community who are living alone?

Home Instead Charities run a grant programme to support local community events which enhance and enrich the lives of people over the age of 55, for example helping them to combat loneliness and isolation, or ensuring they stay fit and active.

Central Beds have a grant scheme open for community groups to apply for funding associated with arts, health and wellbeing activities, as well as groups offering support outside in the community to those who will benefit from wellbeing and recreational activities.

Involve are offering a free ‘caring and me’ course for those looking after an adult friend or family member with a disability, age-related difficulties, or long-term physical or mental health conditions. The group will discuss a different topic relevant to caring for someone during each session.
