Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole

We are thrilled to partner with Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole Council on a two-year community micro-enterprise project. This initiative forms part of BCP Council’s Self-Directed Support programme, which empowers disabled and older people with greater choice and control over their support.

Led by our local Catalyst, Carole Pilley, the project will foster the growth of creative, community-based micro-enterprises offering diverse activities and services. These enterprises will be guided through a tailored development programme to ensure they provide high-quality, sustainable, and safe support options.

The CME project aligns with local strategies, including the Day Opportunities Strategy, and supports the expansion of personal budgets through mechanisms like Individual Service Funds. Together, we’re creating more responsive, community-driven opportunities, enabling people to lead fulfilling lives in their local communities.

As part of the project, we have developed a directory to showcase community enterprises in the local area.

We understand the importance of all our communities across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole and value the activities and support provided by local groups that can have a huge impact on people’s lives and wellbeing.

BCP Council is committed to ensuring a wide range of activities, support and care is available to our residents – particularly people living with a disability or long-term condition. We are looking forward to our partnership with Community Catalysts, which will support local people and organisations to develop neighbourhood-based activities and opportunities; helping everyone to live rich and fulfilled lives.
